Winter is coming and a darkness looms over Westeros as we steer into season eight, which is one of the many reasons why fans think Daenerys Targaryen is going get the heck out of the Seven Kingdoms.
With just six episodes left of the beloved fantasy epic, which have been promised to be the ‘bloodiest yet’, at this point it seems to be a miracle if anyone is left standing by the end of them.
The Night King and his army of Wights and White Walkers are steadily descending on The Wall, and this time they’ve got Dany’s dead dragon joining them.
In turn, it’s no wonder the latest fan theory doing the rounds suggests the surviving characters from the HBO series will all find somewhere a little more hospitable to reside, with The Mother of Dragons as their queen – which, really, they probably should have thought of before.
Reddit user lacer88 wrote: ‘What if the GoT finale would see everyone leaving Westeros and finding a safe place in Essos, where Daenerys is the only Queen?
‘We know from the last episodes that the dead and the white walkers cannot swim (except the ones who rescue the dragon from the bottom of the frozen lake for tying the chains).
‘Therefore, it may be possible that the humans will lose the war with the Night King, who will destroy all the seven kingdoms, including Kings Landing (and probably Cersei Lannister).’
Though, others debunked the suggestion, with tmhawk adding: ‘There’s no where to go in Essos that isn’t already established.
‘They won’t be able to set-up a new kingdom, unless the go to the ruins of Valyria. That would be cool, but I don’t see it happening.’
Do you think Dany and the gang will book a ticket on the next dragon out of Westeros? Will Jon Snow go with her? Sadly we’ve got months until we find out anything at all.
HBO boss Casey Bloys recently confirmed Game of Thrones will be returning in the ‘first half’ of next year, but when we’re this desperate for answers in August, that’s absolutely no comfort whatsoever.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019.
