While we’re hopelessly scraping at the walls to fill the GOT-shaped hole in our Monday schedules, first details about the eighth and final season have started to emerge.

HBO have released the directors lined-up to helm the remaining six episodes, with creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff set to direct the final ever episode.

Elsewhere, Miguel Sapochnik will also return – who bagged an Emmy for his work on season six with some of the most stellar episodes to date, including The Battle Of The Bastards and finale Winds Of Winter.

David Nutter is also returning, who helmed season five’s finale Mother’s Mercy and the infamous Red Wedding episode from season three.

According to Entertainment Weekly, sources say Sapochnik will helm two, possibly three of the final six episodes, but it’s currently unclear how directorial duties will be split.

It certainly sounds like the showrunners are assembling an all-star directing team, which indicates the final season will be doubling-down on the action significantly.

The final season of Game Of Thrones starts production in October, with HBO currently leaving us hanging whether the show will return in 2018 or 2019.
