HBO has released a batch of pictures from the second episode of Game Of Thrones season eight, as character relationships fracture ahead of the battle for Winterfell.

The first episode of season eight ended as Jaime Lannister arrived into Winterfell, locking eyes with Bran Stark for the first time since the first season.

He’s set to face a number of awkward encounters, having killed Daenerys’ father Aerys Targaryen, along with being Cersei’s right-hand man for years.

In the newly released photos, we see Jaime facing Daenerys surrounded by armed soldiers. Will he be able to offer an explanation and sincere apology for his past crimes?

There’s also complications with Jon Snow, who has recently discovered he’s not actually a bastard but the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, aka the nephew of Daenerys.

But will he come clean to Daenerys about their family relation? We see Jon Snow mulling over the revelation with Samwell Tarly, who doesn’t exactly have Daenerys in his best books after she murdered his family.

Lyanna Mormont is also set to return, while Bran Stark is still throwing dramatic eyes to any passers-by around the weirwood tree.

There’s only five episodes left before the show ends, bringing closure to the fantasy phenomena which began way back in 2011.
