New pictures from Game Of Thrones season eight show Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) sporting a pretty nasty black eye after the Battle of Winterfell.

Arya became one of the heroes of the hour in episode three when she as she shone in battle and then offed the Night King with a Valyrian dagger.

But she didn’t come out of the scrap unscathed as the newly released stills from episode four show.

In one image, Winterfell mourns the dead and Arya and her sister Sansa (Sophie Turner) look on with solemn expressions. And Arya is now the owner of a painful-looking black eye which she got for her troubles in the war. Still, she looks pretty badass.

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) looks pretty messed up too, with wounds to his face as he holds a torch in readiness to light a funeral pyre in front of the other Northmen.

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), Bran Stark (Issac Hempstead Wright) and Davos (Liam Cunningham) are also seen paying their respects to the dead.

Jon, Dany, Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson), Ser Jorah (Iain Glen), Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) and Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) then light the funeral pyres in tribute, with each person representing the communities of those who died in battle, including the Unsullied, the Dothraki and the Night’s Watch.

But their troubles are far from over as Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is still plotting in the south with Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek).

Plans are being made as Missandei, Dany and Varys attend a war council (Picture: HBO)

Another pic from the next episode seems to show a war council meeting, with Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) joining Daenerys and Varys (Conleth Hill) around a table with a large map spread across it, and elsewhere Dany looks determined with one of her dragons by her side.
