Will Jaime Lannister switch allegiances? (Picture: HBO)

Game Of Thrones fans think they have spotted a clue that means Jaime Lannister will switch allegiances and turn on his sister/lover Cersei.

Jaime has been loyal to Cersei out of love until season seven when he turned his back on her, which wasn’t ideal for the Queen as she is in need of allies and expecting the patter of tiny feet (apparently).

But the Kingslayer is off on a journey north by himself and could be about to make some surprising new friends.

Fans have been scouring the new season eight pictures released by HBO this week for hints about what to expect.

One photo features Jaime smirking into the middle distance, but it was what he was wearing that caught the eye of one viewer.

Fans have noticed that Jaime’s armour is very similar to Robb Stark’s (Picture: HBO)

Jaime’s armour in the final season is very similar to the armour worn by the former king in the North Robb Stark (RIP) many moons ago.

Comparing pics of the two characters side by side, Reddit user IfJesusCouldText said: ‘Am I the only one who thinks that the armour we see Jaime in here is more than just regular Stark armour.

‘To my memory the only person who wears the large shoulder guards and chest plating is Robb Stark.’

The new get up could be a sign of him leaving his Lannister life behind for good and joining Winterfell in their fight against the White Walkers.

But as another fan noted, he’s not the only character to wear armour like this, as Ser Jorah has also worn something similar.

One really interesting theory from user Bier-throwaway read: ‘You see a Lannister face in Stark armour and think of Robb instead of Arya?’

Could the Waif pick her dead brother’s sworn enemy as her next face?

Actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau previously teased Jaime’s long journey north, adding: ‘I don’t think you can assume that he’s going to make it up there, but who knows.

‘For sure, we see him head north. He might be eaten by dragons, you never know. ‘Or he might find the love of his life and suddenly he’s like, “God, this is it. No more.”‘

Game Of Thrones returns 15 April on Sky Atlantic
