Warning: Spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8 below.

Game of Thrones season eight’s finale is due to air tonight as the world waits to see how the HBO juggernaut will end after a decade of (mostly) groundbreaking television.

Every week the series airs, fans risk running into spoilers as the time differences between America and the rest of the world sees fans tuning in and reacting online at different times.

The simulcast between HBO and Sky Atlantic sees new episodes kick off at 9pm ET in the States which is annoyingly, 2am GMT.

So many viewers on this side of the pond usually have to wait until they get home from work on Monday to catch up, thus spending the day avoiding the internet and its minefield of spoilers.

To combat this somewhat, Sky Atlantic has promised a social media blackout.
The broadcaster’s official Twitter account posted a message this morning which reads: ‘To all our Thrones fans.

‘It has been an amazing ride over the last eight seasons. We have lived and loved every moment with you, but our watch will soon end. At 2am the final ever episode airs. We know that not all of you can stay up to watch live, and want you to enjoy that moment in your own time.

‘We’re stepping away from social media from midnight for 24h and suspending our own accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

‘Please, no spoilers.

‘Valar Dohaeris.

‘Sky Atlantic.’

All images have been removed from the Sky Atlantic Instagram and only some pictures with the message ‘Silence in the Realm’ are up.

Our best advice is to still avoid social media as best you can until you get the chance to sit down and enjoy it.

Game of Thrones season 8, episode 6 airs tonight at 2am on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV and will be repeated tomorrow at 9pm.
