Game of Thrones Season 8’s ending still lingers on the mind of the many. As a lot of the show’s final episodes are Emmy-awards nominated, its final script has been released, giving a glimpse to Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) final moments and thoughts.
Daenerys dominated the show’s final season as she turned to be a mad queen just like her father. Just like others, she would do anything to take the Iron Throne, even if it meant killing everyone at King’s Landing.
This move upset her allies, like Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). So what was she thinking in her final moments before Jon plunged that dagger?
In the newly-released finale script, obtained by Express, it showed a lengthy description of Daenerys’ thoughts as she entered the burnt Throne Room. The scene where she came to the room was similar to the vision she had in Season 2 only that everything was destroyed.
The moment she saw the Iron Throne gave her a sense of achievement. She seemed to be a little girl again that had been dreaming of being a queen. “The conquering queen disappears, and she looks like a young girl again, entranced by the beauty of the moment, and the object of her greatest desire,” the script read. The reason for her long journey, the endless battles, the deaths of her loved ones, the throne was now in front of her.
But when she stood near the throne, she remembered her vision that it was a temptation to avoid. She then touched the throne’s arm to convince herself it was real. Daenerys rested her hand on the metal, remembering her ancestors did the same for so many centuries.
She finally achieved her dream, and all she had to do was to sit to complete her journey. But Jon entered the room. For that fleeting moment, she left the throne, faced Jon, as she knew it could wait. From here, the unexpected happened.
Meanwhile, the Game of Thrones Season 8 finale script also gave a glimpse to Daenerys’ thoughts about Tyrion. As their relationship deteriorated with her plans to take the Iron Throne, they started hating each other, per Mirror Online.
Tyrion even hated himself for failing to stop Daenerys from burning the city. He wanted a bloodless revolution and was more than willing to give his life for her to take the throne, but the unbelievable happened.
Daenerys, on the other hand, was angry and disgusted with the trust she gave Tyrion when he resigned as the Hand of the Queen. Jon tried to beg for Tyrion’s life after he freed his brother, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), but to no avail.
“She considers his plea for clemency for a long moment, but she cannot grant it,” the script read. Her hard decision was only one of the reasons that incited Jon to kill the Daenerys. This storyline surprised a lot of fans that led to Game of Thrones Season 8 backlash, but it couldn’t be denied that it was a brave move.
