Lena Headey may have confirmed a big Game of Thrones fan theory

Oh how torturous it is to be a Game of Thrones fan with so many questions and absolutely no answers whatsoever until April 2019.

However, there’s plenty to celebrate for the cast and crew of the fantasy epic as Game of Thrones not only wrapped up filming last week but was also nominated for 22 Emmy Awards, which is so expected but still bloody bananas.

In turn, Lena Headey shared a touching Instagram post alongside Peter Dinklage – who is nominated for his own Primetime Emmy Award and broke a record in the process – and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who star as Tyrion Lannister and Jaime Lannister respectively.

Alongside the snap of the three all in character, Lena is shown licking co-star Peter and captioned the shot: ‘Now this is more like it. Congratulations to my brothers (literally) from other mothers. I’m a lucky lucky sista to these Mistas.’

That’s fair enough, right? There’s no harm in a little lick.

Well, Game of Thrones fans have gone completely nuts over the caption, suggesting that Lena is in fact alluding to a long-running fan theory that Tyrion Lannnister isn’t actually a Lannister at all, and that in the next cycle we’ll discover he’s in fact a Targaryen.

So hear us out: The theory goes that Dany’s father, The Mad King Aerys Targaryen, had a full blown affair with Tyrion’s mother.

What’s more, back when Tyrion killed Tywin Lannister his father hissed: ‘You’re no son of mine,’ which, in turn, fans have taken quite literally.

And last season, Tyrion bonded with Dany’s dragons in a way which only a Targaryen with dragon-blood can.

When you add it all up, it’s actually not that implausible.

Last week another Instagram post was met with intense speculation from the Game of Thrones fan club when star Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson appeared to confirm The Mountain’s showdown with The Hound.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in April 2019.
