*Warning: This article contains spoilers from Game of Thrones season 8.
Game of Thrones season 8 is just weeks away and already we’ve just been handed one huge spoiler as the cast list has been leaked prematurely.
Earlier this week, HBO accidentally confirmed which familiar faces will be starring in episode one of the fantasy epic’s final chapter, with the usual suspects Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner and the rest of the main cast all named on the channel’s schedule page – before the list was swiftly deleted.
No surprises there.
However, two names which have struck a chord with fans is Tobias Menzies, who’s about to star as Prince Philip in The Crown, as Edmure Tully and Lino Facioli as Robin Arryn.
While their stories were left wide open it seemed unlikely they’d be brought back for the arrival of winter. But what does it all mean?
The last time we saw little Robin he’d been duped into giving Littlefinger the green light to go and rescue Sansa Stark from the North, which was enough to qualify for a slot on Tool Academy.
However, the teen is actually a pretty big deal in the Vale – the biggest, in fact – so will no doubt come in handy for the Starks when the white walkers creep up on us.
As will Eddie, who could well be returning in charge of the Riverlands and prove to be an important ally for House Stark.
The leak comes after Entertainment Weekly were jammy enough to watch filming a key scene in Game of Thrones, and confirmed there were some surprising old names in the mix.
‘There are characters in the finale that I did not expect,’ he noted. ‘I gradually begin to piece together what has happened in Westeros over the previous five episodes and try not to look like I’m freaking out.’
Interesting…
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14.
