Game of Thrones’ final season is dawning. We have a release date, trailer and now posters are popping up across New York City.
But if you’ve never seen Game of Thrones and are planning on binging on seasons one to seven before April 2019, you may want to walk around the Big Apple with your eyes closed – although we strongly recommend that you don’t.
*Spoiler alert.
From seasons one to four, King Joffrey was the ultimate plonker in Westeros – until out of nowhere he was clutching onto his neck with his veins erupting through his flesh after being sneakily poisoned by Olenna Tyrrell. It was brilliant, so unsurprisingly, it’s been used on a poster.
Another image sprawled across an unavoidable tower block shows a soldier hovering an axe over Ned Stark’s head. Need we say more.
In turn, people are kicking off.
‘I kind of can’t believe they’re spoiling some of the main events from each season with these posters,’ one Reddit user snapped.
‘I get that they’re mainly for show watchers that have seen it all already, but don’t you think they’d take into account the hundreds of thousands of people who will see these that haven’t seen the show yet?
Another agreed: ‘I have some good friends who are only in the first two-four seasons and loving it so far.’
While one particularly disgruntled onlooker said they were ‘appalled’, which is probably a bit strong to be honest, but each to their own.
If you’re yet to watch Game of Thrones, avoid our handy guide which explains where we left everyone at the season seven finale. Obviously, the rest of you get stuck into this.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in April 2019.
