A Game Of Thrones fan has uncovered a tiny detail from the season eight trailer that appears to confirm that Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen survive the first Winterfell battle.
Two teaser clips were released ahead of the upcoming final series over the weekend, spurring one viewer to point out that the duo seem to return to Dragonstone after the war.
Reddit user Spiral66 shared their findings on the FreeFolk subreddit, revealing that they’d spotted the Mother of Dragons (Emilia Clarke) and Jon (Kit Harington) by the Dragonstone fireplace in the Together clip.
Before that, another promo titled Aftermath had suggested that a number of characters could be slain in the bloodbath, but this now can’t necessarily be what happens.
Spiral66 explained to Huffington Post their sightings further, telling the publication: ‘When the promo came out, most people assumed, including myself, that the shot of Dany was before the big battle at Winterfell.
‘But as this sub has a tendency to overanalyse things, I started thinking, “What if this was somewhere else?” And sure enough, after looking up the Dragonstone fireplace, the carvings from both images matched.’
They added: ‘After that I checked what the Winterfell fireplaces looked like and they seem to have a much more traditional style so then I became certain this scene was at Dragonstone.
‘Dany and Jon (who is briefly in this clip) at Dragonstone suggests that after presumably losing Winterfell, they retreat to Dragonstone and use it as their new base of operations likely in.
‘As others have noticed, Dany seems to be contemplative ― maybe even mourning over the lost battle and lives. Jorah or Greyworm maybe as some of the casualties?’
Game Of Thrones returns 14 April on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
