Game of Thrones abandoned fans with the House of Stark torn apart as Sansa Stark and Jon Snow’s feud became more than just sibling squabbling, and now Sophie Turner has hinted at some even more terrifying news about their rivalry.

Fans still have an agonising wait for Game of Thrones’ return, which has now been confirmed to be at the beginning of 2019 – though, after more than a year since season seven, that’s absolutely no comfort at all.

After the relatively low body count in season seven, it’s no surprise then that the final run will see six of the goriest episodes to date, according to Turner.

However, she‘s also suggested that the brother and sister rivalry between the Bastard and Lady of Winterfell is only going to take another monumental turn in Game of Thrones’ final chapter, which is ‘full of betrayal’.

Speaking to 1883 magazine, where she was photographed by Brooklyn Beckham no less, Turner revealed: ‘This season is bloodier than ever. It’s full of betrayal, full of war, full of danger.

‘That’s all I can say without giving too much away.’

Of course, deceit runs through the veins of Westeros, and she could be referring to just about anyone: Jaime and Cersei, Jon Snow and Daenerys, Dany and her dragons – the possibilities are endless. But, if we had to bank on it, the Stark family will return more divided than ever.

HBO’s programming Chief Casey Bloys spoke to Entertainment Weekly this week where he managed to spill a few small, albeit important, secrets about the looming conclusion to Game of Thrones.

‘I think it’s epic,’ he enthused. ‘I think fans are going to love it. I think it’s a fitting way for one of the greatest shows in the history of television to go out and that people are going to be very happy.

‘There’s going to be a lot of conversation.’

Despite a year of reports suggesting the final six episodes will all be feature length, Bloys squashed them all.

‘Not two hours? Yes, they are not going to be. Not that I’ve seen anyway.’

Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019.
