The HBO show’s finale is being kept tightly under wraps so anything could happen.

However, Game of Thrones fans have been formulating theories of their own based on what they’ve already seen.

There’s no assurance that anyone will survive season eight as the White Walkers make their way south.

But if there is one survivor, could it be Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) for a compelling reason?

Reddit user lounaaaaaaaa posted: “What if Cersei is the only one who survives by offering her child to the Night King and ends up ruling everything like she always wanted?”

And it looks as though they aren’t the only ones who think it could be a good idea.

One fan replied: “Tasty. Just the sort of ending I wouldn’t put outside the realm if possibility given the wacky stuff that goes on in this show.”

“Damn. That’s cold. I like it,” another replied.

While a third added: “That could be her plan at the end. Jaime won’t allow it though, and tries to stop her.

“That’s how he ends up killing her, which he definitely will. Then the Night King kills him.

Cersei told her brother and lover Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) that she was pregnant in series seven.

If the child does survive, if it does exist in the first place, it could prove to be very helpful for her.

Long-time viewers will remember Craster (Robert Pugh) used to offer up his baby sons to the White Walkers as a sacrifice, before his death.

Although, it may well be that everyone dies in the end, which could be fitting for a show that has continually shocked and surprised viewers with sudden deaths.

Even some of the stars of the show have joked that is what will happen in the bitter end.

Richard Madden appeared in the programme as Robb Stark before he was brutally slain in season three’s Red Wedding.

He has spoken out on the ending, declaring a mass slaughter could be a “possibility”.

The Bodyguard heartthrob told The Hollywood Reporter: “I kind of think it’s just going to be three dragons flying around, and everyone else is dead.”

He added: ”It’s a possibility!”

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
