Game of Thrones fans only have six episodes left of the epic fantasy show when it returns to television screens in April.

And with HBO’s final six episodes comes many theories surrounding the show’s main antagonist: The Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik), and how he may be defeated.

Many viewers are hoping Jon Snow (Kit Harington) will be the fabled warrior Azor Ahai, who is destined to save the world from R’hllor’s nemesis.

However dedicated viewers on Reddit have begun pointing out a number of lines of dialogue from Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) scenes.

User Juligen wrote out a number of Bran’s scenes which could be linked to bringing down the Night King.

In season three episode two “Dark Wings, Dark Words,” Jojen Reed (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) told Bran: “I have seen the only thing that matters… you.”

This theme continues in season four’s second episode, when Jojen’s sister, Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) told Bran: “And if we lose you, we lose everything.”

The Reed siblings are not the only people in Westeros who are putting all of their faith in Bran, as proven in a later episode.

After reuniting with his uncle, Benjen Stark (Matteo Elezi) – later referred to as Cold Hands – in season six, Bran was given some harrowing news.

Benjen told him: “One way or another, [The Night King] will find his way to the world of men.

“And when he does, you will be there waiting for him. And you will be ready.”

These comments now hold a lot more weight as Bran has taken up the mantle of The Three-Eyed Raven, and has become more powerful than anyone else in the show.

What’s more, viewers saw Bran and the Night King cross paths during his vision in episode five of season six.

This prompted the demon to track down and attack Bran at the Weirwood tree, which resulted in Hodor’s (Kristian Nairn) death.

If the Night King was so eager to find and kill Bran so quickly, he may feel Bran is a threat.

All signs point to Bran being the person most likely to take on the Night King head-first – but will he be able to do it alone, or will he need help from a warrior such as Jon Snow?

Ser Davos Seaworth actor Liam Cunningham recently spoke out about the final season, and hinted it may not end well for anyone.

Speaking on The Late Late Show about whether his character would survive the show, Liam said: “So far, so far. That doesn’t mean anything. We’re all going to die.

“Don’t forget: ‘Valar morghulis’ – which is one of the phrases on the show which means ‘all men must die.’”

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
