The Mountain star Hafthor Bjornsson is set to be in an explosive final scene in season eight of Game of Thrones, and many might believe it’s against the towering warrior’s brother The Hound (played by Rory McCann).

The pair have been estranged ever since the hit HBO fantasy debuted nearly a decade ago, but The Hound has told the heartbreaking story of their last moments together before their feud, and said he was eager to come face-to-face with him again.

Now Icelandic professional strongman Hafthor has shared some details on his epic fight scene coming up, and there are some surprises.

For one thing, the production hired a stunt double for the actor for the first time ever.

And what’s more, Hafthor claimed filming for the final six episode was some of the hardest yet.

If his fight scene doesn’t involve The Hound however, it could be he ends up having to do his master Cersei Lannister’s (Lena Headey) dirty work on the show.

Speaking about the exciting upcoming scene, Hafthor shared: “All the seasons prior to this season that we just finished filming.

“I never had stunt doubles. I always did everything myself.

“But the last season I filmed,” he continued to fansite Mashable. “The season that hasn’t been shown on television, I had a stunt double there.

Hafthor teased: “I can’t go into details, you know, but I had a stunt double there.”

“I can tell you that,” the star joked.

Speaking about his double fondly, Hafthor painted an image of him as a “taller and big” version of himself, but noted he wasn’t “as muscular”.

Despite being the first person in the world to win the Arnold Strongman Classic event, Hafthor revealed he found the final season filming more strenuous than ever before.

He explained: “Viewers can definitely expect an amazing season.

“I obviously know just a little bit, I don’t know what’s gonna happen in everything.

“You know I only play a small role, you know.

“But I’m at least super excited to see the season, and it was certainly the most hardest season I’ve filmed for Game Of Thrones,” the actor added.
