Game of Thrones fans are counting down the days to the first episode of HBO’s eighth season of the fantasy epic.
But some fans have been worrying about Yara Greyjoy (played by Gemma Whelan) since the beginning of season seven.
Dedicated fans will remember Yara was last seen on her ship back to the Iron Islands, drinking and partying, before she was eventually boarded and attacked by her uncle, Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk).
This put Yara in a bad situation, and viewers last saw her being marched through King’s Landing with chains around her ankles.
Since then, Yara has been fleetingly mentioned by Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), who is determined to stage a rescue mission for his poor sister.
But Theon’s promises of rescue have not instilled fans with any hope for Yara, and are not sure whether they will ever see her again.
Yara actor Gemma has been quite tight-lipped about her appearance in the upcoming final season of the show – until now.
Recently posters showing off the show’s characters were released – but Yara was absent from the images.
This tragic news led to one fan tweeting actress Gemma with some concern, saying: “I miss you @WhelanGemma.”
Gemma replied: “Aah you’re kind to worry… but fear not! Having a baby and filming schedule clashes meant I couldn’t make the photo shoots … ;)”
She then went on to confirm her appearance in the final season, adding: “I’m gutted not to be on them! Can’t wait for you to see the final season! I can’t wait to see it!!!”
Fans were utterly ecstatic with the confirmation of the continuation of Yara’s story, as they began replying to say: “WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE!!!”
While another agreed: “thank god so so excited to see you.”
Meanwhile Jon Snow actor Kit Harington has been speaking about his theories about the show’s ending.
Speaking to Stephen Colbert he revealed: “I had theories all along and all of them were wrong.
“I’m quite glad I never told anyone my theories.”
Later, after being prodded further about what happens in the final season, he grinned, adding: “I can’t say zero. This is the problem, Stephen!
“I can’t even say lies! I can’t even make something up because that gets picked up!”
Thankfully viewers don’t have to wait much longer to see how the show ends.
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on April 14 on HBO, and Sky Atlantic and on NOW TV on April 15.
