Game Of Thrones stunt man Adam Behan endured some tough night shoots while making season eight.
The cast have previously spoken about having a ‘miserable’ time filming epic battle scenes, and it doesn’t sound like it was any easier for the stunt crew either, who are used to doing what the rest of us can’t.
Adam told Metro.co.uk: ‘Adjusting the body clock to the nights I found to be quite difficult, I hadn’t done back to back nights like that before.’
Star Maisie Williams backed this up in a recent interview, revealing to Entertainment Weekly that the shoot was physically and mentally draining.
‘Nothing can prepare you for how physically draining it is,’ she said.
‘It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop.
‘You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do… there are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry.’
But Adam had a slightly better time of it as he added: ‘It was a fantastic experience!’
He also teased – as much as he could – what fans can look forward to in the final season.
‘It’s a whole load of awesome!’ he said. ‘They certainly won’t be disappointed.’
While stunt performers are recognised for their hard work at the Taurus Stunt Awards, he is hopeful that this will crossover to more mainstream ceremonies.
He told us: ‘Awards are given out to categories such as: Best Fight, Best Stunt Rigging, Best High Work, Best Work with a Vehicle, Best Specialty Stunt, Hardest Hit, and a few more.
‘It’s great to have our very own awards ceremony.
‘Over recent years more and more people can be heard saying that stunts should be included in the Oscars. Who knows, maybe that day will come.
‘What I do know is this, when people see stunt professionals working on a set in real life, they truly do appreciate is an art form. Without it, it would be impossible to create the worlds that writers and directors envision.’
Having worked on Game Of Thrones and Vikings, two of the biggest sword-slinging shows around on amazing locations, Adam understandably finds it hard to pick the coolest part of his job.
I guess if I were to choose one it would have to be the opportunity I was given to act on a show. I love stunts but acting is another a real passion of mine.
‘Since graduating from Dublin’s Bow Street screen acting programme I’ve worked on a few independent Irish films and in 2017 found myself in dialogue scenes with [Vikings star] Alex Høgh Andersen – a great dude.
‘The same happened on Penny Dreadful too, in 2016 I was cast for scenes alongside Josh Hartnett and Timothy Dalton.
‘Dressed as a cowboy on horseback in the Spanish desert – boyhood dream come true!’
Game Of Thrones returns 14 April on Sky Atlantic, NOW TV and HBO.
