Game of Thrones fans have been needlessly tearing their hair out over the first season eight trailer.
Last week HBO dropped the first non-regurgitated teaser for the final chapter of Game of Thrones, which saw Jon Snow, Arya and Sansa descend upon the House of Stark crypt where they were confronted by their own tombs.
Three statues of the Stark children stood before them; Jon’s noticeably more aged than his sisters’ which obviously sent the fandom into a meltdown.
Will he finish Game of Thrones as the lone Stark survivor? Where was Bran Stark? Is he The Night King? WTF does it mean?
Nothing, actually, because that clip has absolutely zilch to do with season eight. FFS.
Game of Thrones site Winter is Coming have picked out an old interview with Sophie Turner where she actually told us months ago that she was about to troll us – and we still fell for it.
‘We did this promo for season eight where—I don’t know if I can say this, actually. Well, actually, no,’ the 22-year-old teased at New York Comic-con.
‘It’s got nothing to do with the series; it’s just a promo. It was this big kind of statue of me, of Sansa, and I wanted to have it in the garden of my new house. But they obviously wouldn’t ship it from Belfast to New York, so…’
Well, at least Kit Harington got a cute statue for his shed out of it.
Thankfully, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have reluctantly assured that there will be an official Game of Thrones season eight trailer coming shortly.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14.
