The trailer for Game of Thrones season 8 is speculated to drop during the Oscars 2019 ceremony.
The 91st Academy Awards are held on Sunday (February 24) and it has been speculated by fans and supposed insiders on fan Reddit Freefolk that this is when the full trailer with footage from the final season of Game of Thrones will drop.
As always take Reddit posts with a pinch of salt but here is what they tell us.
One user called Crazy-Lion22 has stated that they believed the trailer will drop on Sunday or Monday as “We are now on Day 50 for the premiere date. Typically this is the time that HBO schedules to drop a trailer.”
In response, another user named Excellent_Aerie pointed out another insider revealed this with greater specificity: “A poster who turned out to have legit inside information about the junket said that the trailer is dropping during the Oscars as far as they knew.”
This user added that this seems a logical step for HBO to make.
“Even aside from that, the major releases for 2019 GOT promo–crypts teaser, new footage of Dany at Winterfell, Superbowl Bud Light spot–have happened on Sundays, so it makes sense to expect the same for the trailer.”
And what better forum than the biggest night for the Showbiz screen calendar?
Fans are clamouring for more details on the final season of Game of Thrones, but it remains to be seen if these Reddit users are correct.
We’ll have to keep an eye out when the Awards ceremony comes.
