After months of waiting for winter to arrive, it’s finally here and Game of Thrones fans have officially reached peak impatience for that season eight trailer.
The Winter Solstice has descended, the nights are drawing in and it’s time HBO offered up the goods as we’ve been festering in our own frustration for an entire winter already and another is one winter too far.
Game of Thrones has traditionally released the first trailer for each season around the mid January mark, pushing it at the Super Bowl.
But, season eight is of course the season when winter finally lands and naturally fans are speculating HBO will mark the occasion in some shape or form imminently.
‘What are the chances that the official trailer will drop today, now that winter is literally here?’ asked Reddit user GroNicroBloom.
And others on Twitter are asking the same thing.
HBO released a cryptic teaser earlier this month flying over a map of Westeros which gradually became engulfed with ice on one side and fire on the other.
Obviously it wasn’t long before the wild fan theories followed, but the most popular seems to have legs, implying that Mother of Dragons and all around queen Daenerys will be the one to save the day.
Although, right now she’s also the favourite for certain death so, you know, swings and roundabouts.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2018.
