As we all know, Game of Thrones is currently filming for Season 8, and the show will not return till 2019. HBO recently made it official that there will be no Game of Thrones in 2018, but we haven’t had any specifics on when in 2018 it will air, until now. As you might know, Maisie Williams, who plays the role of Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, went on a press tour to promote her new animated film, Early Man. In a new interview with Metro, she revealed that Game of Thrones Season 8 will go on air in April 2019! Read on!
The interview was mostly about Early Man, but Game of Thrones came up. She was asked how long the season will be filming for, and she revealed that it would be for the entirety of 2018 :
“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”
She then spoke about how she would like Arya’s story arc to end :
“I’ve always said I wanted her to find peace. The things that have been driving her through her story have been very bitter and twisted and aggressive. I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy.”
She also said that it will be tough not seeing her castmates once the show is over, and that she’s excited to try out new things once she is done with Game of Thrones.
