GAME of Thrones star Ron Donachie says series eight will be worth the wait for fans as he reveals the efforts cast and crew have gone to to stop the plot leaking.
The Scots actor has starred in the highly-acclaimed HBO show alongside son Daniel Portman, and knows imaginative creator George RR Martin.
But anyone wishing to extract and titbits about the final series should go elsewhere.
Donachie told the Sunday Mail: “Nobody is giving any secrets away. People who are involved are all saying it’s worth waiting for, but beyond that, nothing.
“Daniel is really discreet about it and you have to be. As actors, we sign contracts now where they can shoot you into space without any air if you breach them so nobody’s saying anything.”
The Dundee-born actor’s stint on the show came to an end when his character St Rodrik Cassel met a bloody demise in an execution.
He added: “I get killed in series two – betrayed by a boy I had looked after since he was a child.
“I had a grisly death, even by Game of Thrones standards. I had a botched beheading so they ended up kicking my head off it. It was particularly gruesome.”
Ron had read the books before being cast in the telly version, so his character’s death came as no surprise.

And after reading a few others written by Martin, he got to know the writer well.
Ron said: “I’m still in touch with George. I like the books very much but I was also acquainted with an earlier novel of his called Fever Dream.
“I read it by chance because a pal gave it to me in about 1981 and the first day I met George I told him. He’s an interesting man, great fun.”
Despite millions of fans worldwide dreading the series coming to an end, Ron says some of the younger cast members including his son, 26, are excited to move on.
He added: “Dan started in series two and, while it’s going to be a big whole in their lives, they are looking forward to it with great excitement because they have other things to do now.
“Game of Thrones has been a fantastic opportunity, but when you are in your 20s, you want to broaden your horizons. If it was me, I’d be in it for life.
“But for the younger actors, they will be looking forward to other things, although they will miss the great camaraderie and security.”
We told last week how a Scottish whisky firm launched a limited-edition collection of Game of Thrones malts – inspired by Westeros’ warring families.
Diageo have teamed up with HBO to celebrate the eighth and final series of the hugely popular TV series.
The collection includes eight whiskies, each paired with one of the iconic Houses of Westeros and the Night’s Watch, giving fans an authentic taste of the Seven Kingdoms and beyond.
