Game of Thrones season eight is considered by pretty much everyone to be a bit of a disaster, with fans blaming showrunners and ‘bad writers’ DB Weiss and David Benioff who have faced significant backlash.
Many were looking forward to giving the pair a good grilling at the Game of Thrones panel in Comic-Con this week but alas, they have dropped out.
The HBO writers have cancelled their appearance along with cast members Iain Glen and Nathalie Emmanuel and director Miguel Sapochnik.
The news came via Twitter and the official Game of Thrones account and naturally, fans are roasting D&D online.
One fan tweeted: ‘If D&D don’t want to face angry fans maybe they shouldn’t have f***** up so badly writing the final season.’
While another wrote: ‘D&D are a bunch of cowards!’
The #GoTSDCC panel taking place Friday, 7/19 at 5:30PM in Hall H will now consist of panelists @Maisie_Williams, @RaleighRitchie, @nikolajcw, @isaac_h_wright, @johnbradleywest, @liamcunningham1 & Conleth Hill.

Another tweeted: ‘So the two cowards Benioff and Weiss couldn’t show up the face the music, huh?’
The panel takes place tomorrow at the San Diego convention and the cast members still scheduled to appear include Maisie Williams (Arya), Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran), John Bradley (Sam), Liam Cunningham (Davos) and Conleth Hill (Varys).
HBO has yet to comment on the reasons for D&D’s cancelled appearance.
‘The only thing I’ll say is that for anyone to imagine or to think that the two creators of this show are not the most passionate, the greatest, the most invested of all, and to for a second think that they didn’t spend the last 10 years thinking about how they were going to end it, is kind of silly,’ he said.
Game of Thrones season 8 is streaming on NOW TV.
