Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have been having a rough time since the series ended, with a ton of fan backlash, and even cancelled deals. The pair has now made a cameo appearance on the HBO series Westworld, complete with a dragon, and it’s quite the talk of the town right now. Read on!
The pair appeared on the latest Westworld episode, second episode in the ongoing Season 3, cheekily titled “The Winter Line”, playing a couple of Delos Destinations technicians working on Park 4. The cheekiness didn’t end with the title, as Park 4 is also shown to have a medieval/fantasy theme, which was apparently a shout-out to Game of Thrones, as Westworld creators revealed recently. Take a look:
The fans, however, took no mercy upon the pair, using this cameo to talk about Game of Thrones Season 8, and how the whole cameo was better than the end of the series:
So D&D’s characters wanting to butcher Drogon for money in Westworld was a meta acknowledgement of them butchering the story & characters in Game of Thrones right?

So Game of Thrones/Westeros being in #Westworld proves that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are, in fact, shitty storytellers and don’t know how to write good narratives…. pic.twitter.com/0B3IWwOQJT

me when I realized there was a D&D cameo in the middle of westworld but they ruined game of thrones so I couldn’t be arsed to acknowledge their existence #Westworld pic.twitter.com/AMfOCMre4W

Having D&D on @WestworldHBO is a Fucking joke and pissed me off right away. Then cutting off the head of Drogon as tech. Then having the Game of Thrones theme song played during the Stubbs fight is Bullshit @HBO. #westworld

Some fans were also freaking out over how Game of Thrones could have existed entirely inside Westworld, and how it blew their minds:
The new #Westworld was great but that #GameofThrones Easter egg was such a pleasant surprise, holy sh*t Game Of Thrones was just a world inside Westworld I think I’m geeking out pic.twitter.com/Sb1dR7O8He

So game of thrones was just another world in the westworld universe? 🥴 https://t.co/L5p4mKLB6Z

Apparently, the whole idea also stemmed from George R. R. Martin, who wanted a crossover between the two shows, revealed Westworld creator Jonathan Nolan to Variety. Their cameo showed a dragon which looked eerily similar to Drogon, laying dead, leading to some fans saying that HBO has finally killed the last surviving dragon.
We think it he whole thing was pretty hilarious, considering everything. What about you guys? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
