Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is one of the most anticipated shows of 2022. However, when the teaser trailer first came out, many people were skeptical whether the spinoff show would be as good as the original series. A few more were worried if the infamous showrunner duo would return to “ruin” House of The Dragon as well. Well, if you were concerned about the same, you can rest easy, as they won’t be returning to anything related to Game of Thrones anytime soon.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff confirmed that they are not involved with any of the upcoming spinoffs. Weiss said:
“All in, we were 11 years, probably, doing that show [Games Of Thrones]. When I say 11 years, it was full on, all in, all day, every day for 11 years,” says Weiss. “It was the best decade of our lives. It still kind of feels a bit like a dream, but we got to a place where it was pretty clear to us that we had reached the end of what made sense for us to be involved within that world that we lived. It just felt like, for us, it was time to move on and get excited and terrified about building something else—building lots of something elses.”
He also says that he and Benioff didn’t see the new “Game of Thrones shows [as] something that made sense for [them] to be involved with.”
