Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner has signed on for her first TV-based project since the epic fantasy series concluded earlier this year.

The X-Men: Dark Phoenix star – who played Sansa Stark in the HBO show – is to appear opposite Straight Outta Compton‘s Corey Hawkins in Survive, a small-screen adaptation of Alex Morel’s 2012 novel of the same name that will debut on upcoming streaming platform Quibi.

Described as a romance thriller, it tells the story of Jane, a troubled young woman from New Jersey who decides to end her life upon her release from a mental health facility.

But on her journey home, the plane she’s travelling in crashes on a snowy mountaintop and she awakens to discover that she and a young man named Paul (Hawkins) are the only survivors.

“I couldn’t be more honoured to portray the role of Jane in Survive for Quibi,” Turner, 23, said. “She’s a complex character fighting against the odds to not only save her life, but to also find her own source of strength and courage.

“I only hope this can impact anyone struggling with self-worth to understand they are braver than they know and to seek the support they need.”

Richard Abate and Jeremy Ungar (Ride) are writing the scripts while Blindspot‘s Mark Pellington is on board to direct.

“After reading the script, it was clear that we’d need to find the right artist to take on the lead role in Survive, and we couldn’t be happier than to have Sophie starring, who brings a high caliber of talent to the table,” producer Van Toffler explained.

“I’m also thrilled to be making a movie with Mark Pellington, who had the office next to me at MTV in the ’80s and has grown to be an exceptional director.”

Game of Thrones aired on HBO in the US, and you can also catch up on the show via Hulu. Pre-order seasons 1-8 on DVD and Blu-ray now.
