Sophie Turner hilariously recalled the time she bagged the role of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, at the tender age of just 13. While Sophie’s mother panicked, the actress’ father felt that the show was probably going to be nothing.
For many actors that we have come to know and love, Game of Thrones was a stepping stone for their flourishing acting careers. Whether it be Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke or even Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams. Sophie was the tender age of just 13 when she bagged the role of Sansa Stark in GOT. The actress was 15 when the first episode from season 1 of Game of Thrones aired. Over the process of 8 glorious seasons, Sansa eventually became a fan-favorite for the Iron Throne. She may not have won the seven kingdoms, but she was declared the Queen of the North, instead. And, that is all she wanted in the first place!
Recalling the time when she landed the role of Sansa, Sophie revisited her parent’s hilarious reaction. While her mother was petrified for her teenage daughter, Turner’s father thought that the show would eventually amount to nothing. Sophie told The Cut, “My mum had a little panic for a second when I got the part. But my dad was like, ‘Look, it’s what she’s always wanted to do, and it’s probably going to be nothing. We’ve never heard of this show before. Just let her go for it.”
As we know it, such was not the case! Game of Thrones is considered as the most iconic television series in recent history and deservedly so!
