An imitation of the Game of Thrones introduction which features the route being taken by the Queen’s coffin has gone viral on social media. Sky News shared a visualisation with viewers which detailed the route the Queen’s coffin would be taking from her former London residence of Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where she currently lies in state.

Sharing the video on the social media platform, Dimitri Gripari took the opportunity to put the intro music from Game of Thrones over the clip and wrote: “The real Game of Thrones #ElizabethII #HouseOfTheDragon.” The royal spoof has now been viewed over 580,000 times, and been retweeted and liked by thousands of people.

The uncanny clip features dramatic cinematography as it zooms into Buckingham Palace, before the camera flips over to pan along The Mall, a golden route being digitally carved out along the famous red road to denote the route taken by Her Majesty’s coffin. After heading up The Mall, the camera then pans across Horse Guards Parade, where Trooping the Colour takes place.

After being driven across Horse Guards Parade, Her Majesty’s coffin was driven past The Cenotaph and Downing Street, and turned left once it reached Parliament Square to reach Westminster Hall. The map then changed to focus directly on Westminster Hall and its immediate surroundings, where the Queen’s coffin currently rests as thousands of well-wishers queue up to view it.

The original clip, without the music, is, arguably, incredibly reminiscent of the Game of Thrones’ introduction, which dramatically pans across notable Westeros locations including Winterfell and King’s Landing. Those who watched the edited clip could not believe the striking resemblance to the Game of Thrones opening scene, with Laura Fawcett replying: “Why did it fit so well?”

Taking inspiration from the current Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon, Paco said: “House of the Corgi.”

“Oh this is very good!!” said Nappy Han. “It’s like GOT!”

Klayy wrote: “Art imitates life, life imitates art hahaha.”
