Jane Austen’s Persuasion adaptation has added a Game of Thrones star to its cast, alongside Succession star Sarah Snook.
Joel Fry appeared in seasons 4 and 5 of the hugely popular fantasy as Hizdahr zo Loraq, one of the slave masters in Meereen who tries to work with Daenerys Targaryen as she takes over the city. He marries her, but gets killed shortly afterwards. Oops.

The star, who also appeared in Yesterday, Plebs and Trollied, will play Frederick Wentworth, a wealthy war captain who returns to England. There he meets up with Snook’s Anne Elliot, who previously turned him down years before. Period drama ensues.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the adaptation will be directed by The Lost Song‘s Mahalia Belo, and has been written by Jessica Swale, who wrote and directed the Gemma Arterton vehicle Summerland.
Looking ahead, Joel Fry has also been cast in Cruella, a Disney live-action movie that focuses on the original story of… you guessed it, 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil.
Emma Stone will play the titular Disney villainess, while Joel will play one of her hapless henchmen, Jasper Badun, in the film, which is set for a release exclusively on Disney+ this year, having been pulled from cinemas due to the pandemic.
Persuasion is due to begin production later this year.
Cruella is due to be released on May 28, 2021.
