It’s been more than a year since the final season of Game of Thrones came out, and admittedly a lot of fans are still bummed about how it all went down. Kit Harington had actually come out to comment on the ending, and says that Jon Snow’s return to the North was the best decision for the character. What’s more, he actually hasn’t watched it.
Talking during a Q&A session with @purple_dwagon, Harington explained:
“When people say to me, ‘I wish you’d been on the Throne or I wish you’d been with Dany on the Throne,’ I disagree because Jon’s place was always in the North. He’s never have been happy in the South. He’s like Ned Stark. Ned goes to the South he’s in danger… [Jon] belongs North of the Wall.”
He then just adds a little throwaway line admitting, “I haven’t seen it.” You can watch his explanation here:
When the last season came out for Game of Thrones, we were getting nothing but backlash online. If anything, the show’s last ‘good’ episode was the second one where the characters all prepare for the invasion of the Night King.
While the actors have been vocal about thinking that the haters were being rude, I think Harington’s admission to not watching the finale proves that he was displeased with how it all went down as well. At least his character got a happy ending, unlike Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys who had turned up the ‘Final Boss’ of the entire show.
Game of Thrones may be done, but you can catch Harington in Marvel’s Eternals when it comes out Feb. 12, 2021.
