His episodes saw him as the leading member of the Brotherhood Without Banners and friend to the Brotherhood’s leader.

In season seven, Thoros is found tragically frozen to death after making his way north of the terrain, yet actor Paul is likely unaware of the wider plotline after not proving a fan of the HBO series.

Opening up on the role, during which he wore flowing robes and a lengthy, rugged hairstyle, he told MirrorOnline: “The only time I ever got recognised was after the third series of Game Of Thrones, because I had the top knot and beard.

“Now I’d have blended in, as that look has oddly been adopted by estate agents.

He then confessed: “I’ve still never seen Game Of Thrones, so that works for me.”

Paul was making reference to being approached by fans who wanted him to record special celebratory messages.

He told how he recorded some lines in Dothraki, a fictional language used in the TV series, which served to entertain GOT loyals.

Paul shot to fame in 1995 playing celebrity spoof interviewer Dennis Pennis.

With dyed red hair and thick glasses, Pennis stood out from the crowd and asked celebrities atypical questions, ranging from playful to cruel.

The basic premise was that Paul (as Pennis) and a camera crew would visit film premieres, press functions and other celebrity gatherings to attempt to get an “interview” with stars, in between short skits and sketches featuring the character.

The final video, Dennis Pennis RIP: Too Rude to Live, released in 1997, saw the character killed off.
