Game of Thrones star Joe Dempsie has revealed who he thinks Gendry’s real mother was.

The actor played Robert Baratheon’s supposedly bastard son on the HBO fantasy drama, with the identity of his mother never revealed onscreen.

But Joe recently shared his own theory on Gendry’s true heritage.

According to the Adult Material actor, Gendry was the sole biological child of King Robert and Cersei Lannister — meaning he was never a bastard at all and should have claimed The Iron Throne following Robert’s death.

“I still wanted to find out who Gendry’s mother was,” Joe told NME.

“I have a theory that it was actually Cersei and he was actually [her and Robert Baratheon’s] only biological child.

“In season one, when Ned Stark comes to visit him, he asks him about his parents and he said he never knew his father but his mother had yellow hair.

“I remember thinking, that’s too loaded a line not to mean anything.”
