The apocalyptic, sci-fi thriller, Snowpiercer season 2 is now working on completing the cast. Moreover, the second installment will introduce Game of Thrones star, Sean Bean as Mr. Wilford.
Snowpiercer is an adaptation from the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, and Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film. Season 1 aired on Netflix late May this year and ended with unexpected twists. Now, Snowpiercer season 2 will delve deeper into the character of Mr. Wilford, and the newfound leadership of Layton.
The series follows a set of survivors inside a luxurious train after the earth becomes a frozen wasteland. Furthermore, the train is boarded with two groups of passengers, the rich and the poor. As the train travels around the frozen earth, the passengers are faced with murder and rebellion from the lower class.
Sean Bean joins the cast as Mr. Wilford
Back in season 1, Mr. Wilford is thought to be the decision-maker inside the train. And these decisions are passed on to Melanie Cavill. However, the series reveals that Mr. Wilford is not aboard the train, but in order to influence the decision, Melanie impersonates Mr. Wilford. The character of Mr. Wilford in the first installment is nothing but a myth, but that is about to change in season 2.

Sean Bean will take the character of Wilford, the engineer who oversaw the construction of the Snowpiercer train. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Graeme Manson shares Bean’s character. He said:
“I can just say that Sean Bean’s Wilford is dastardly and fun and very well-dressed.”

Season 2 will follow the successful rebellion of the lower class detective, Layton. At the same time, Melanie steps down from leadership and transfer control of the Snowpiercer to Layton.

Unfortunately, the arrival of Mr. Wilford in season 2 might threaten Layton and Melanie’s democratic ideologies. Although there is no official synopsis yet, Wilford seeks to take back Snowpiercer, considering that Melanie had left him dead prior to their journey.
Season 2 will also introduce Melanie’s daughter, Alexandra Cavill, who travels with Mr. Wilford. Besides, the next installment will reveal the severed relationship between Melanie and Alexandra. Mason said:
“The thing that we don’t know at the beginning of the season is what Wilford has done to her mind. How has Wilford turned her against Melanie?”
Snowpiercer season 2 cast and release date
As expected, Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly return as Layton and Melanie. Aside from Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard will play the role of Alexandra. On top of that, season 2 will premiere this winter.
