Game of Thrones ended with many memorable moments, including Sansa Stark being crowned as Queen of the North. Sophie Turner, who played the monarch on the show, recently revealed the ideal vision for Sansa Stark—and why she will rule alone for the rest of her life.
“No wars, no battles. I see her leading until she’s very old,” Turner told the Los Angeles Times in an interview. “I don’t see her getting married or having children. I think it would be a democratic kind of kingdom. She’d die of old age, very happy.”
Turner also revealed why Sansa Stark wouldn’t have been a good fit for the Iron Throne, since she is only looking out for her kingdom.
“The fact that she doesn’t want power is also something to be said for her,” Turner added. “She only cares about the North.”
Sansa’s crowning during the Game of Thrones finale pleased many viewers and most were happy that the Stark sibling would rule the region her family controlled for many years, INSIDER noted. Many fans will also remember Sansa Stark’s intelligence and her ability to read other power-hungry contenders throughout the series.
“[Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I spoke about it a lot … the ways people are blinded by power. She can spy that in anyone. She’s seen too much; she can’t be [too] vigilant,” Turner added. “We always thought she had her head screwed on maybe the best of all the characters.”
Turner, along with many other actors, including Alfie Allen and Carice van Houten, were recently nominated for their first Emmy Awards. Game of Thrones racked up 32 nominations for the Emmy Awards, breaking the Emmys record for the most nominations in a single season. The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Fox.
