It’s hard to believe, but Game of Thrones only ended last year – and after eight seasons and countless hours of avoiding spoilers, scouring fan theories, and plot twists aplenty, it ended with less of a fanfare and more of a debate.

The series’ conclusion has long been a source of contention and controversy for Game of Thrones fans, but Maisie Williams – who played Arya Stark – has admitted that she was “absolutely thrilled” with her character’s final arc.

Appearing (virtually) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Maisie reflected on the show’s final season, telling Jimmy that she and her co-stars had “such a blast” during filming. “We loved it,” she said.

Weighing in on the series finale, and Arya’s defining moment of killing the Night King, Maisie admitted that she was “so happy” with the way things ended for her character.

“It was just a beautiful end to a decade of my life,” she insisted. “I couldn’t be happier with it, honestly. I was absolutely thrilled.”

Of course, not everyone agrees with Maisie’s evaluation of Game of Thrones‘ final season – in fact, earlier this week, former star Charles Dance called the ending “disappointing”.

“I loved it; there were storylines [where] I wanted to know what was going to happen to these people!” the actor, who played Tywin Lannister, argued. “I know that the finale satisfied a lot of people.

“It also disappointed a lot of people, and I’m afraid I am in the latter camp.”

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
