Pilou Asbæk has teased plenty of ‘monkey business’ to come from his character on Game Of Thrones.

The actor, who plays Euron Greyjoy, hasn’t been a part of the show for long, but believes Euron is going to create a lasting impact on season eight which returns next year.

We have seen Euron ally himself with Cersei Lannister, terrorise his niece and nephew Yara and Theon Greyjoy and brutally murder the Sand Snakes.

And there’s more to come.

Speaking about the final season to Thrillist, Pilou said: ‘When I read all the scripts, I was blown away. I’m so happy and I’m so thankful. I’m so proud I got to be a part of something as big as Game of Thrones, and I think in so many ways, it will forever change my life.

‘Even though I have a small role, but nevertheless a significant one. And hopefully in Season 8, I’ll do enough monkey business to make an impact.

‘He’s a funny character. I honestly wish I had been able to come in earlier, and develop him much, much more than I was able to.’

The actor’s ‘small role’ might come to a grisly end in season 8 according to one fan theory.

Fans of the books have been desperately waiting for the day they will see George R.R. Martin’s vision of a kraken, a giant mythical squid, brought to the small screen, and one could be involved in killing off Euron.

After watching the animated video of The Prophecies of the Known World, narrated by Sam Tarley, Reddit user big_pecs suggested the beast will come roaring out of the sea to attack either Jon Snow or Euron Greyjoy.

Such an iconic villain surely deserves an iconic death right?

In a recent Reddit Q&A session, Game Of Thrones director David Nutter teased that the remaining characters will be ‘reset’.

He said: ‘I’ve never directed an opening episode of GOT before until season 8 but I think it’s really important to make a splash.

‘You have to reset the table, put everyone back in their place, you have to take them to their next position. But you have to entertain that’s what’s most important.’

He also teased a ‘shocking’ finale to the hit HBO show. The director said: ‘I’m completely satisfied with how season 8 ends. I think that [creators] David and Dan did a tremendous job, and they took into consideration what the fans want, as well as what is right as far as storytelling is concerned.

‘I guarantee there’s going to be lots of surprises and shocking moments, but it’s really very compelling stuff.’

David added: ‘Season 8 in three words — Spectacular, Inspiring, Satisfying’.
