Hold the door — the Porta-Potty door, that is.
Kristian Nairn, who played Hodor on “Game of Thrones,” performed a highly-anticipated DJ set on Sunday, May 26, at BottleRock Napa Valley during Monkey Shoulder whisky’s pop-up Porta-Party, a “speakeasy”-like activation that festivalgoers could only access through an orange Porta-Potty door.
The Irish gentle giant, who stands at 6 foot 10 inches tall, has been spinning progressive house music for more than two decades — well before his 2011 “Game of Thrones” debut as the simple-minded stable boy at Winterfell — and is currently on tour. (In fact, Nairn jetted to Phoenix right after BottleRock to spin a late-night set in Phoenix.)
Nairn, or DJ Hodor as many fans chanted during his set, had already performed alongside Bay Area-bred EDM act White Panda during a silent disco on the Lagunitas Stage on the second night of the festival, and had appeared on the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage for a Sunday afternoon shrimp boil. But it was his special DJ set at the intimate dance party that had dozens of people lined up for the bathroom in the rain.

But even Nairn’s star power couldn’t trump the love Bay Area rapper Too Short got during his surprise appearance at the Porta-Party.
And as the last act at the party, Too Short shut it down — literally. He brought in such a large entourage and attracted so many fans to the pop-up space that the fire marshal was forced to close down the Porta-Potty a little early on Sunday evening.
Other artists who packed the Porta-Party during the three-day festival were Paul Oakenfold, Citizen Cope, White Panda and Crystal Method.
