Game Of Thrones stars have lead the tributes to Dame Diana Rigg following her death.
The legendary actress, whose career spanned more than 60 decades, has died at the age of 82.
Dame Diana notably portrayed the role of Lady Olenna Tyrell in the HBO series, first appearing in the season three episode Dark Wings, Dark Words.
Ultimately, she was killed off in the season seven episode The Queen’s Justice – but not before she gave us one of the show’s most iconic lines.
The official Game Of Thrones Twitter account posted: ‘Be a dragon. The realm will always remember Diana Rigg.’
Meanwhile, her co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister, added: ‘Dame Diana Rigg. She always raised the bar with her incredible talent, intelligence and wit.
‘An absolute joy and honour to work with. May her soul Rest In Peace.’
Pedro Pascal, who played Oberyn Martell in the fourth season, wrote: ‘The true queen of Westeros. #DianaSugg.’
John Bradley West, best known as Samwell Tarly, also mourned the loss of the star, writing: ‘Diana Rigg was just wonderful. But you all knew that already. Everybody did. Very sad news.’
Mark Gatiss, who portrayed the role of Tycho Nestoris, wrote a series of touching words as he looked back at his work with Dame Diana on All About Mother and Doctor Who.
‘It was my great joy and privilege to have known Diana Rigg,’ he began. ‘From three slightly hysterical months at the Old Vic in All About Mother to writing The Crimson Horror for Diana and her wonderful daughter Rachael. Flinty, fearless, fabulous.’
He added: ‘There will never be another. RIP.’
Dame Diana’s death was confirmed today, six months after being diagnosed with cancer.
Her agent Simon Beresford said in a statement: ‘It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Dame Diana Rigg died peacefully early this morning. She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time. Dame Diana was an icon of theatre, film and television.
‘She was the recipient of Bafta, Emmy, Tony and Evening Standard Awards for her work on stage and screen. Dame Diana was a much loved and admired member of her profession, a force of nature who loved her work and her fellow actors. She will be greatly missed.’
Dame Diana is survived by her daughter Rachael – who she had with ex-husband Archibald Stirling – her son-in-law Guy Garvey and her three-year-old grandson Jack.
