The highly-anticipated Game of Thrones studio tour will be opening its doors in February 2022, and we have a first look at what fans can expect to see.
The multi-million themed attraction will feature the real-life sets, props, and costumes used in the hit drama, with an insight into how the Seven Kingdoms came to life.
Actor Ian McElhinney, who played Ser Barristan Selmy in the medieval fantasy series which ran from 2011 to 2019, visited the set’s replica and was amazed by the detail.
Speaking to Sky News, he said: ‘One of the great things about being an actor is walking into a studio space and saying right, this is now my world and putting on a costume and saying right, this is how my character dresses.
‘Suddenly you get a whole different sense of reality of the part that you’re playing and the world that you’re part of.’
‘Walking in here is like being back in the Game of Thrones studio and being kind of impressed by it,’ he added.
Devoted fans will be able to visit the grand tour on February 4, 2022, at Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, which is perfect considering that’s where Game of Thrones was filmed.
Chief executive of Tourism Ireland, Niall Gibbons said: ‘We are really excited about the opening of Game of Thrones Studio Tour at Linen Mill Studios – which will give fans of the show everywhere an extra special reason to book a trip to Northern Ireland in 2022 and beyond.’
In 2019, Game of Thrones came to an end after eight years, in an episode that saw Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) killed by her lover and nephew Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
The finale sparked a lot of uproar among diehard fans of the series, but Clarke admitted that she understood ‘why people were p***ed.’
However, she stressed: ‘You have to turn up and you have to… because why? Because you’re doing it for you and you’re doing it for her and you’re doing it for the show and you’re doing it for the storytelling.
‘So, I’m an actor. I get given a story and I need to tell that story.’
Game of Thrones is available to watch on Sky and NOW.
