Game of Thrones‘ final season delivered the ‘Cleganebowl‘ we’d all been waiting for –
but The Mountain actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has now given us something we never even knew we needed to see.
No, he hasn’t shared any new behind-the-scenes GoT action (sorry). Rather, he’s put out a video of himself lifting chart-topper and one-time Game of Thrones guest star Ed Sheeran like it’s absolutely nothing.
Which, let’s be honest, for the World’s Strongest Man 2018, it probably is.

Thankfully, unlike Ed’s Thrones character – who was left facing a horrible fate when Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) decimated the Lannister forces with her dragons at the end of season 7 – this is one interaction that had a happy ending.
Not only did Hafþór successfully hold Ed above his head, but he also did it long enough to ensure the moment could be immortalised on social media.
“He asked for it,” Hafþór captioned the clip. “Luckily I didn’t drop him… He has to work tonight!!”

The moment took place as Sheeran was in Hafþór’s homeland of Iceland for a gig, something that he noted in his own photo caption, writing: “When in Iceland.”
Well, it certainly wouldn’t have happened in Westeros, we’ll give him that.
Meanwhile, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has defended the final season against fan backlash, saying that she doesn’t think it was deserved.
“The fans are incredible and so loyal, and we love them because of the fact that they’re so, so passionate. I cannot fault them there,” she said.
“But when people were saying that there was no effort, that the writers were terrible… The most effort was put into this final season.“
Game of Thrones aired on HBO in the US, and you can also catch up on the show via Hulu. Pre-order seasons 1-8 on DVD and Blu-ray now.
