Would Bran have been a better option to kill The Night King? (Picture: HBO)

Warning: Contains spoilers for Game Of Thrones.

Arya was given the glory of killing The Night King in Game Of Thrones, but the actor who plays the White Walker leader thought it’d be another Stark taking him down.

In latest episode The Long Night, The Night King was vanquished by Arya in a surprise twist, leaping through the air to protect her brother Bran.

Vladimir Furdik, who plays The Night King, however, was surprised by the decision, saying how he believed Bran would be the one to bring him down before reading the scripts.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Furdik said: ‘I feel like maybe Bran should kill him somehow.’

His death scene was particularly arduous to shoot, with the actor explaining how it was challenging pretending to hurt co-star and friend Maisie Williams.

‘It was a very emotional day and night,’ Vladimir told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘It was so strong. I spent all my energy playing it, and she as well.

‘It was not an easy day. It was cold. There was rain. She was on a wire, in a harness, jumping many times. It wasn’t just the one time; it was maybe 15 times. When I have to hold her under the jaw and it looks like she dies, we had to spend a lot of energy on that particular scene.

‘It was very, very difficult. We are very good friends. We know each other. It wasn’t easy for me to [pretend to] hurt her. When I grabbed her under the jaw, it wasn’t easy [on a practical level]. If you make a bad move – if you don’t grab her well – she could have an injury. So I was under pressure and she was under pressure. It was not an easy day.’

The death of The Night King leaves unanswered questions which might not ever be addressed, a move criticised by some fans desperate for every detail.

It’s not over yet though, with the next episode turning towards the battle for the Iron Throne against Cersei Lannister, but who will certain characters back?
