  1. So much symbolism in the Winterfell mens' executions

Nedd – One quick efficient swing of the sword. A man who has killed before but takes no pleasure from it.
Theon – Messy wild swings followed by a kick. Reflects Theon's duality and conflict within himself
Robb – Anger and frustration. Robb knew marrying Talisa and executing Lord Karstark would have a price, but he followed his fathers teachings and tried to live honorably which cost him his life.
Jon – Kill the boy. Jon has matured and is now leader of Castle Black. After Janos disrespects him Jon knows he has to kill him or his men will never respect him. Even after Slynt pleads for his life, Jon rejects his good-natured boyish side telling him to forgive him and executes Slynt to serve the greater good. After this moment Jon is no longer a boy.

  2. Was this suppose to represent Bran's dream. Theon and his men from the Iron Islands represent the water that would supposedly cover Wintefell and Ser Rodrik drowning represents his death.

  3. Capturing Winterfell was hardly a victory.

A castle in which most of the household guard are away with Robb, with a small garrison of force remaining at Winterfell.
Plus Theon was a familiar face so even if he was seen moving into the castle with his men, it wouldn't be as suspicious

  4. Theon should have taken Winterfell, plundered the castle and taken one of the Starks Hostage but return to Pyke at once!. He would have impressed his father, sister and crew and given Balon Greyjoy a valuable asset to use against the North as well as a symbolic returning the favor Ned Stark did to Balon.

  5. honestly now that we're all the way in season 6 and (soon enough) 7, theon taking on winterfell feels like a prank. it's almost pathetic … i just hope he wins his strength back- and not just physically
