A Game Of Thrones fan theory claims to have worked out why Daenerys isn’t meant to take the Iron Throne (Picture: HBO)

A Game Of Thrones fan has suggested a theory which means Daenerys Targaryen will never take the Iron Throne.

Daenerys is just one character laying claim to the famous chair in a bid to rule all of Westeros.

But a ‘Targaryen disease’ – and Tyrion Lannister – might just stand in her way in the final season, according to one fan with incredible attention to detail.

Fan shadowwarrior18 posted on Reddit that due the ‘sickness’, ‘one generation of targs may be extremely benevolent and kind, but the next generation would end up being the worst tyrants and insane monarchs’.

They list King Aerys II and Daenerys’ brother Viserys as examples of Targaryens who have fallen victim to the so-called herditary illness.

‘Due to their inbreeding and incest, these targs have a lot of mental and health issues. Some end up like the mad king. Some end up like a benevolent ruler,’ they went on.

‘So, if one generation is benevolent, the next generation usually becomes cruel. For these reasons, its not feasible for Iron Throne to be still ruled by a Targaryen. And possibly it might be for these reasons Tyrion may betray Dany in season 8.’

They also put forward that, ‘as demonstrated in season 7, she is despised by almost everyone in Westeros. So I can’t see how the Westerosis accept the daughter of the Mad King as their Queen.’

They suggest that the only house left with a legitimate claim to the throne is House Baratheon as it is ‘a targ bastard house and have Valyrian blood.

‘Also, 2 targ princesses over the generation were married into house Baratheon, the last one being Princess Rhaelle Targaryen, Robert Baratheon’s grandmother.’

But the Starks won’t be left out in the cold, they claim, as a Baratheon could go on to marry a Stark and have a strong claim to the throne. They suggest that the most likely outcome could be Robert Baratheon’s son Gendry marrying either Arya or Sansa Stark and ousting Cersei Lannister once and for all.

However, another fan has rebutted this theory by claiming that ‘there is no clear right or wrong’ when it comes to who sits on the Iron Throne.

‘The Targaryen sickness was bad, but incompetent rulers are going to come out of any royal line. that is why we invented the whole democracy thing,’ they said.

Plus, if the Baratheon’s claim to the Throne comes from the fact they have half-Targaryen blood, then they is a chance they could be inflicted with the same ‘Targaryen sickness’.

Meanwhile Tyrion Lannister actor Peter Dinklage might have teased that his character meets a sticky end.

In an interview with Vulture, Dinklage said of his character: ‘I think he was given a very good conclusion. No matter what that is — death can be a great way out.’
