Robert Baratheon ruled the Seven Kingdoms until his untimely death in season one of Game Of Thrones.
Game Of Thrones has shown rulers past and present sit on the Throne, the most-wanted chair in Westeros.
Cersei Lannister, Joffrey Lannister and Eddard Stark have all sat on the Iron Throne, but one fan claims to have spotted that we never see King Robert take his seat.
A fan posted their thoughts on Reddit, adding that there might be a reason behind why we were never given such a scene.
They said: ‘I just realized that there was never a scene in-show where Robert Baratheon sits on the Iron Throne.
‘It seems unlikely to be coincidence. Metaphor for Robert’s dislike of ruling?
‘Either way, I found it really odd.’
Other fans have come up with the idea that this might be because of Robert’s intense dislike of ruling, as he always preferred to be out hunting, drinking and chasing women.
But there is also the point that just because we never saw Robert sitting in the Iron Throne, doesn’t mean he has never sat in it, as in the past he has described to his close friend Ned Stark how uncomfortable the chair is. Maybe he tried it once and decided not to bother again.
Also, given the bawdy, stubborn man Robert was, it’s hard to see him taking a shine to such an ornate chair, a remnant of Targaryen rule.
Fans are going to have to wait until at least Spring next year for the show’s final season.
HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys narrowed the show’s release window at the Television Critics Association’s press tour (via Entertainment Weekly) in July.
‘We’re going to be toiling away on season eight until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away,’ Bloys explained.
‘Here’s the one thing I can assure you: Dan [Weiss] and Dave [Benioff] [GoT showrunners] were not sitting around on a beach waiting to go back to work. They’re perfectionists and this is the soonest it can come back at a level of quality that they are comfortable with.’
