With the Battle Of Winterfell on our doorstep and our televisions in mere hours (mere hours, people), talk has turned to how many of our Game Of Thrones characters are going to meet their end.

The teaser for the fourth episode in season eight doesn’t appear to bode well for anyone, as the White Walkers descend on the Stark residence in their quest to take over.

While we can only hope our favourites come out unscathed (c’mon Sansa), Watchers On The Wall’s deputy editor Luka Nieto is warning us to prepare for those we like to perish.

This is why we can’t have nice things, you see.

‘Whichever character you felt most emotionally connected to during this past Sunday’s episode, I’d say they’re at the greatest risk of dying,’ he told Metro.co.uk ahead of the 2am screening from the US.

‘Snark aside, I imagine the show will sacrifice a fair amount of its beloved secondary characters during the Battle of Winterfell.’

But just who is Luka talking about? We need names!

‘Davos (Liam Cunningham), Pod (Daniel Portman), Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), Bronn (Jerome Flynn), Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson), Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), Gilly (Hannah Murray), Little Sam (James and William Wilson), Ghost, Gendry (Joe Demsey), the Hound (Rory MccCann), Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer); they’re all at great risk! That doesn’t mean they’re all dying next week, of course… but some of them absolutely are.’

Some heart-saving news though may be that the main characters may hold on a little longer.

However that may not include Bran Stark (Isaac Hemstead Wright) who is basically planning to use himself as bait at the Weirwood to lure the Night King his way.

He may have protection from Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) but it just doesn’t sound like it’s going to end well on the face of it.

Still, it’s been suggested Bran may use blood magic in a mass sacrifice to rid the North of the walkers. But will it actually work? That remains to be seen.

‘As for main characters, I’d say that Bran’s plan to use himself as bait, with Theon protecting him, will go about as well for Bran as it goes for bait fish,’ Nieto continued.

‘It won’t go much better for Theon either, I imagine.

‘Jorah’s (Iain Glen) final sacrifice could be around the corner, too, and I’m also scared about Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) after their beautiful scenes last episode.

Just when we go and get attached to these characters again they’re about to ripped from beneath us.

Happy viewing.

Game of Thrones season eight, episode three airs tonight on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV at 2am and will air again at 9pm on Monday.
