Game of Thrones star Toby Osmond has called for a Dorne spin-off and we can’t blame him.
Yes, it turns out the new Prince of Dorne (who made his first and last appearance in the final ever episode of the fantasy saga) has got more to give.
When chatting to Metro.co.uk, the GoT newcomer revealed he thinks the house of Dorne has been under-represented and is hoping he gets a chance to live out his royal fantasies in a spin-off.
Not only that, but Toby is hoping Steven Spielberg will take the reins.
Dinosaurs are sort of like dragons, right?
The actor spoke about where he’d like his character’s story line to go, and which parts of Dorne he feels were left unexplored.
He told us: ‘When you translate books into TV there’s always a lot you’re going to lose. I’m pleased Dorne had a fair bit, but I feel like everyone wants to see more Dorne.’
‘I think there should be a Dornish spin-off,’ he laughed.
Addressing the HBO hit’s directors, Toby teased: ‘And I tell you what, Dan Weiss and David Benioff if you’re doing it, I’m happy to do it.’
Pausing for a moment, he laughed: ‘Whoever does it! Spielberg please, please let me do it.’
Talking about his time on set, Toby revealed that the drivers had joked he’d be getting a spin-off, and he totally fell for it.
‘So, a hilarious thing of film and television sets is a lot of people like a bit of gossip,’ he explained: ‘The worst for it are the drivers.’
‘They’re sitting in their cars and they have different people with them every time and they love a chat and a bit of banter.
‘So you’ll get the most wild speculation from the drivers, which is set as absolute fact.’
He went on: ‘One driver was like, “you’re playing this Dornish Prince? There’s going to be a spin-off, they’re going to do a spin-off for each of the houses, and they will definitely do a Dornish spin-off.”‘
Don’t get ahead of yourselves, as Toby confirmed: ‘This was wild speculation.’
However, that didn’t stop the actor from believing it, and he even told his agent that it going to happen! Oh, Toby.
‘I was there, a wide eyed fanboy like, “oh my God, there’s going to be a spin-off,’ he laughed.
‘And my agent was like, “any chance of a spin off?” I was like, “yeah the driver said so.”‘
Talking about where they could take the Dorne story line, he continued: ‘They’re such an interesting house and a rich culture.
‘What would be good to explore is the poignant conversations between Cersei and the Red Viper about the treatment of bastards, women and children.
‘You have Kings Landing which sees itself as the centre of the universe, and really you have backstabbing and murder and power politics…
‘Then you have Dorne where people are doing nice murals and sun bathing and growing nice flowers like, “oh what are we embroidering today?”
‘Sure there’s a bit of poisoning going on, but whatever.’
