I'm pretty sure the Mountain is dead because if you know anything about Oberyn,It's that he isn't called The Red Viper for no reason.(His weapon was poisoned)
I liked Oberyn in the show better than in the books, and LOVED him at first read,  it was all due to Pedro Pascal’s portrayal of him.Â
I too loved the council scene with Oberyn. The actor did an amazing job taking on a role that the fandom had strong opinions about.

I would add that scene with Cersei and that dialog with Tyrion when Oberyn came to King´s landing, but that is only my opinion.Â
