Game of Thrones has a good habit of bringing villain’s lives to an end in various entertaining ways.
While huge enemies such as The Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik) saw a brutal ending at the hands of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) was killed whilst occupying a bathroom.
Tywin brought a number of people’s lives to miserable circumstances throughout his time in Westeros, perhaps most of all Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).
As viewers know, Tyrion eventually brought Tywin’s angry life to an end when he escaped from prison and shot him with a crossbow.
However fans have been scrutinising the scenes leading up to Tywin’s death and have surmised that the tyrant owes his death to none-other than Oberyn Martell (Pablo Pascal).
Fans will remember Oberyn arrived in King’s Landing with the mission to kill the Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), and Tywin.
With this in mind, Oberyn decided to defend Tyrion in order to take on the Mountain.
And it looked like he had the upper hand, as he took some fatal swipes at the warrior – but he was ultimately toying with the monster.
Eventually it quickly turned sour, and Oberyn was not too successful, as the Mountain brought him to a brutal end.
Reddit user Exex123 recently pointed out that, despite being killed in the process, Oberyn was actually the person responsible for killing Twyin in the end.

They wrote: “Just realised about Oberyn. Being foolish during his duel with The Mountain actually led to the death of his main target, Tywin Lannister.
“If he had just finished The Mountain off, Tyrion would never have killed his father.”
Oberyn’s actions led to his death, and in turn led to Tyrion’s imprisonment, and eventual escape.
It was during this escape that Tyrion went on to kill Tywin, bringing the patriarch’s life to an end.
Although Tywin was killed off before he caused any real trouble, the same could not be said for Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).
Daenerys went on to destroy King’s Landing with the brutal might of her dragons, and fans think that was her plan all along.
Reddit user MarkoMD007 recently revealed a passage from the books, which read: “Women do not forget. Women do not forgive.”
“No, Dany thought, and the Usurper’s dogs will learn that, when I return to Westeros.”
Viewers were quick to assume that this passage may have pointed towards her early plans to destroy the residents of Westeros.
But did she change her mind, or simply double-down on her decision once her friend and companion Missandei (Nathalie Emmanual) was killed off?
