We recently reported that the seventh season of Game of Thrones won the 2018 Creative Arts Emmys in seven different categories. The creative team receiving the award included: Sam Conway, Joe Baur, Steve Kullback, and others. But, post the event, during an interview, the VFX supervisor of Game of Thrones Steve Kullback accidentally slipped out a major spoiler about Tyrion Lannister in the final season. Read on but, at your own risk as it may spoil your experience of watching the new season.
[POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD! CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK!]
Kullback accidentally slipped out, “And we can’t tell you in what episode Tyrion dies…or doesn’t.”And guess what happens, all the team members start shushing him down and Sam Conway slams his palm into his forehead – his own way of being taken aback. Then Joe Baur steps in to change the topic and starts talking about the efforts taken in by other creative team members. But, what if he did it on purpose to throw the fans away? Let’s discuss it in detail, but before that just take a look at the part where Kullback gives away the spoiler.
Tyrion Lannister has so far been a fan-favorite character on the show. People have loved his diplomacy, his humane, and his clever way of dealing with difficult situations. But lately, his character has gone down a step, especially with his failed tactics with the Siege of Casterly Rock in Season 7. The seventh season also left with many unanswered questions about him such as – what deal did he make with Cersei and what did his concerned look over Daenerys and Jon’s boat scene mean?
Also, recently enough the actor (Peter Dinklage) even discussed that concerned look of his in the series finale with the Entertainment Weekly. He said that Tyrion might have gone down a path of jealousy seeing Jon and Daenerys coming together. He revealed:
“No, ah, it’s complicated…A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does. She’s awe-inspiring. He’s questioning that because he doesn’t have a good track record for falling in love. There’s jealousy wrapped up in there. And he loves Jon Snow, too. They’re the two people he has the most in common with, in a way — they’re both outsiders in their own families who have refused to follow the path their family has taken, and hopefully for the better. He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is] because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”
Personally, Tyrion is one of my favorite characters on the show and being a die-hard fan I don’t want him to meet a bad fate! So, what do you think? How credible is this spoiler for Season 8 and how hyped did it make you? Tell us in the comments.
