  1. Should have known that LOTR would win, since part of its tag line is "one ring to rule them, and in the darkness bind them"; as if there'd be any other winner, though GoT did give a run for its money.

  2. Lord of the Rings is THE best. And may I point out LOTR is a book/movie trilogy meaning you only get so much time to develop characters and gave battles and such. And GOT is a tv show giving them a lot more time to do things. LOTR is at a slight disadvantage and it still comes out on top.

  3. Despite of the differences, they both have similarities:
    -Set in Medieval Times
-Even there's a magic, people is still power hungry
-There's a flying creatures ex-machina, Eagles and Dragons
-The main character has a BFF name Sam and he's the most kindest character of the franchise
-They both have Sean Bean but he died at first installment

  4. LOTR should have won the battles section. Helms deep is one of the most iconic battle sequences in film.

And now that I'm on the bandwagon, it should have won in the villains section too. Don't forget that the ring itself is a/the villain. It's brilliant because it's not just a big bad that can be beat up and killed, It's a catalyst for evoking the very worst in man's nature. Greed, selfishness, arrogance and lust for power.

  5. Legacy?  George R R Martin is still alive, and still writing the last book.  50 years from now Game of thrones will have a legacy equal too if not greater than lord of the rings.  Really dumb comparison between the two.

  6. no need to watch this video, i will all tell you this: lord of the rings is my favourite movie by far and game of thrones is my favourite tv show by far. and lord of the rings is game of thrones' daddy. lord of the rings will always be on top, thank god by bringing game of thrones in my life making me less fucked up now that there is no more lord of the rings. but now that i heard there will be a lord of the rings tv show around 2020, this soul is gonna be so happy!!!

  7. It's just walking… even the trees start walking. Three movies, now a prequel before all of three walking. Oh wait, side stories while the walking is happening.

  8. Lord of the rings has an impact that has reached across generations. Maybe 60 years from now Game of thorns will be as iconic or maybe it will be forgotten but as of now nothing in fantasy can rival Lord of the rings except MAYBE Harry Potter

  9. I’ve would of been so pissed off if you guys said that Game of Thrones won, we all know that lotr will win, I even grew up reading/watching the movies, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

  10. I love how all these people are praising LOTR just because it’s so popular and famous, GoT makes LOTR look like a kids show. With the whole thing being more black and white than Star Wars and having little to no deaths, LOTR is way worse than GoT imo.

  11. trash GOT is Clearly better thats why LOTR is copying them on the tv show front their big promoution is "we have a bigger budget per episode than GOT does" LOTR is a fun time to watch but it is predictable and over detailed. GOT is the perfect show

  12. This just praised LOTR at pretty much every aspect, how could a pretty much family friendly world filled with happy dwarves, talking trees, and always smiling hobbits where the heroes always defeat the villains no matter what win over a dark and almost scary grey world where there is no line between good and evil and some heroes that we are supposed to like are the villains to other heroes, a world filled with death and corruption and lore so deep it would easily give Bethesda a run for their money. I may just sound like some GoT fanboy but I think this video is completely bullshit, the only thing LOTR should have won in is legacy, all the others go to GoT imo.

  13. How can you have a legacy round? LOTR came out more than half a century ago and ASoIaF isn't even finished yet! Laughable. Also how many of the people in this comment section saying game of thrones is shit have actually read or watched it? I've seen and read both and my personal preference is ASoIaF. Even if you believe LOTR to be the Grandfather of fantasy literature it doesn't necessarily mean it's better…

  14. I would argue LOTR obliterates GOT in all five categories. Sure, Thrones has exciting battles that twist the narrative immensely, but Rings' battles are iconic, if not legendary – Helm's Deep, Pelennor, even the suicide assault on the Black Gate to buy Frodo enough time to destroy the Ring – all are etched into literary history.
As for villians, I will admit Tolkien is far more one-dimensional than GRRM. I have read nearly all Tolkien's books, and not even Melkor himself has the complexity of GOT's villian roster. That said, again, Tolkien's villians are Godly in scope and Legendary in pop culture, and far more representative of Fantasy than GOT's human yet ordinary villians.

  15. For fuck sake the GoT is a tv series and LOTR is a movie the GoT series is not over so you dont know the real threat and the LOTR is a movie so it is expected that the heroes are gonna win and GoT is not expected

  16. Game of Thrones, arguably the best TV show of all time and is based of (my opinion) the greatest book series of all time, the greatest battle shown on screen (the battle of the Bastards) greatest detail in hundreds of different characters loads of different plots and over 1,200 years of history described deeply by GRRM and has inspired many different TV shows of the same sort, hundreds of secrets still yet to be known VS Gandolf

  17. this was so fixed from the start. Cmon with the final section being legacy how could game of thrones compare? without LOTR, GOT would literally not exist. it's a bullshit contest if you ask me. Look I LOVE both of these franchises, but to compare a series that has only less than a decade of history to its own mother with decades of history is rather unfair.

  18. Even though am a huge GoT fan, the point for Battles should have gone for LOTR. Helms Deep is posibly the best depiction of an actual siege ever put to film (dont mention the shield surfing) and the Battle at the Pellenor Fields are arguably the best 45 minutes in film history. It was the culmination of every part of the cinematographic world, the acting, Howard Shore Fantastic Score, the amazing visual effects, the weight they put on detail and story, perfectly written, edited and shot sequence. As a cinephile is just plainly beatiful in the technical side and as a normal dude who enjoys watching movies is amazingly entretaining and thrilling, so much emotions went there and not even BoB managed to have that amount of perfection in cinematography.
